Oberliga Süd 1949/50: SpVgg Fürth win the title as a promoted team

New in database

Another stage has been added to the transfer market database. The 1949/50 Oberliga Süd season can now be viewed in its entirety. SpVgg Fürth became champions this season – and that as a promoted team. In the end, they were five points ahead of VfB Stuttgart, who in turn beat SpVgg 4-1 in the semi-finals of the final round of the German championship which followed the season. The Swabians also won the final beating Kickers Offenbach 2-1, who finished third in the South Squadron in regulation time.

Fürth not only became Oberliga Süd champion, but also provided the top scorer with Horst Schade. The striker was allowed to celebrate 21 times back then. The previous season, when Fürth returned to the Bayernliga First Division as second in the table behind Jahn Regensburg, Schade had scored 55 goals in 30 games, in the promotion round another 15 goals in six appearances were added.
